(People Upliftment Programme)
Empowering the disempowered
Unemployment in South Africa is a socio-economic crisis leaving the people of our country in extreme poverty. POPUP is a place of hope where people from disadvantaged communities are trained, restored, and uplifted enabling them to sustain their own livelihoods.
POPUP is our skills training and development initiative where the disempowered (those who are illiterate, unskilled, poor and unemployed) come to receive training in a specific skill. During their training learners also obtain access to social and medical support services. POPUP follows a holistic approach to skills training and development. These learners come to POPUP with the expectation of receiving a market-related skill, but instead they receive so much more! Learners are restored and healed in Christ. POPUP is truly a home of grace where people are restored to their original identity in Christ.
After successfully completing a skills programme, learners are either placed in a job through POPUP’s Job Placement Service or assisted with starting and managing their own small business ventures. This is achieved through POPUP’s Enterprise Development Programme.
POPUP also has a children’s programme, POPKids, which is day-care centre for neglected and deprived children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years. Want to learn more about the Doxa Deo Family’s activities through POPUP?
